Mrs. Mae
Smitherman Sizemore, 90, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, Aug.
27, 2003, at the Nursing Center at Oak Summit. She was born in Yadkin
County on April 3, 1913, to Doctor Benbow and Emma Binkley Smitherman.
Mrs. Sizemore was a member of Winston-Salem Friends Meeting. She loved her Lord and her church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Sizemore was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Coy Sizemore; five brothers, Gorrell Smitherman, Ralph Smitherman, Dave Smitherman, Clyde Smitherman and Paul Smitherman; and three sisters, Sallie Choplin, Ilene Burke and Carrie Hobson. Surviving are three daughters, Bernice Allen and husband, C.L., Gloria Long and husband, Jack, both of Winston-Salem and Barbara McMillan of Burlington; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, at the Winston-Salem Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Judith Dancy and the Rev. Willie Frye officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 to lie in state. Burial will follow in the Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening, Aug. 28, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Memorials may be made to the Winston-Salem Friends Meeting, 3151 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
