martha ann (smitherman) busby

The many people in Hamilton county who knew Miss Martha Smitherman, who was the wife of Jack Busby, of Waco, will be sorrowfully shocked to learn of her death, on Monday, June 3.

As Miss Smitherman the deceased lived in this county in childhood and as a young woman.  She had often visited in the home of her brother, W.H. Smitherman, since leaving the county to live in Waco.  And news of her death came as a shock to loved ones and friends.  Her mother, Mrs. S.J. Smitherman, of Waco, was visiting W.H. Smitherman and family at the time of the death of her daughter.  Mr. Smitherman accompanied her mother home and attended the funeral near Valley Mills, Texas.

The following notice of death and burial of Mrs. Martha Smitherman Busby appeared in a recent issue of the Waco Times-Herald:

A. Reilly Copeland, assisted by Evangelist Moody of Coolidge, in charge.  Interment was made at Goodall cemetery near Valley Mills.

She is survived by her husband and four sisters:  Mrs. J.B. Thomas of Valley Mills; Mrs. F.W. Halpaine of Monroe, La.; Mrs. D.M. Massey and Mrs. C.L. Reid, both of Waco.  There are three brothers, T.E. and L.A. Smitherman of Waco and W.H. Smitherman of Hamilton.  Her mother, Mrs. S.J. Smitherman, also lives in Waco.
