E. Cook, 87, formerly of Union, Iowa passed away, Wednesday, April 20,
2016, in Fairmont, MN. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., Sunday,
April 24, 2016, at New Providence Cemetery. Memorial services will be
held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2016, at the Union Community
Church in Union, IA. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m., until the
time of service at the church. The Conrad Chapel of the Anderson
Funeral Homes has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences
may be sent to www.andersonfhs.comMary Elizabeth Cook passed away on April 20, 2016 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, MN. Mary was born on February 3, 1929, to Hurley Maas and Ethel Martin Maas and grew up in Union, Iowa with her siblings Floyd, Marcia and Richard.
Mary went to school in Union, Iowa and was blessed by what she considered were her greatest accomplishments, her five children; Donna, Lynn, Mark, Steven and Gregg. Later in life she was married to Frank Cook and considered him the love of her life.
Mary spent many hours watching and cheering for her kids at their sporting events. She retired from the Iowa State Training School for Boys in Eldora, IA and enjoyed her time gardening and visiting with friends. While living in Fairmont, she enjoyed watching Minnesota Twins Baseball and sharing news about her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children Donna and Don Leu, Lynn ( Barb) Smitherman, Steve (Deb) Smitherman and Gregg and MaryEllen Smitherman; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; Brother Richard Maas and his wife Meridene; sister-in-law Ann Maas and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son Mark; brother Floyd Maas; sister Marcia Bourne and husband Frank Cook.
