Funeral Services for M.D. "Bud"
Smitherman, 57, of Victoria, who died Thursday morning in a local
hospital following a sudden illness, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at
the Clifford Jackson Funeral Home in Corpus Christi. Burial will
follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria until 4 p.m. Saturday, at which time it will be transported to Corpus Christi for services.
A native of Mobile, Ala., Mr. Smitherman was born Feb. 28, 1931. A former resident of Corpus Christi, he had been employed as a chief dispatcher with Central Power & Light until his retirement after 33 1/2 years of service.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Fenley Smitherman of Victoria; two daughters, Lisa Pruitt of Victoria and Teresa Frazier of Maryland; a sister, Pat Smitherman of Creole, Ala., two brothers, Alfred Smitherman of Creole, Ala., and Lowell N. Smitherman of Denver, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Smitherman, on Sept. 21, 1978.
