Mildred
F. Smitherman, age 80 of Bessemer went to be with her Lord on Tuesday,
January 31, 2017. She was raised in Brierfield, AL. and was a graduate
of Bibb County High School. She was a member of Grace Life Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mildred was preceded in death by her son, Craig Smitherman, her parents and several siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles "Lindbergh" Smitherman; children, Charles "Dale" Smitherman (Kim) and Robin S. Hamlin (Rick); grandchildren, Chris and Susan Smitherman; one brother, Jerry Frederick and her sisters, Nettie Romager, Jessie Burnett and Lanice Chandler and several loving extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Grace Life Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bessemer. Rev. Joel Frederick and Rev. Frank Sims will be officiating.
