Minnie Lorene Blankenship, 97, passed away on Jan. 18, 2005.
She was born in Gordo, Ala., on Sept. 1, 1907, to Robert A. and Zula Frances Smitherman, and had lived in the Akron area since 1930. On Sept. 1, 1927, Herman Bruce Blankenship and Minnie Lorene Smitherman were joined to gether in holy matrimony.
Minnie Lorene was a member of D.A.R. Local Chapter, Cuya hoga/Portage Chapter, and a member of Eastern Star, Falls Chapter 245. She was a volunteer at Akron City Hospital, and a longtime member of the Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed ceramics and china painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Minnie Lorene is survived by her son, Robert and daughter-in law, Jean Blankenship.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at the Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, 1767 Goodyear Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44305, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. John E. Phillips will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Memorial Park.
