minnie lee (smitherman) Choplin
Mrs.
Minnie L. Choplin, 95, of East Bend, passed away on Thursday, January
28, 2016 at her home. She was born on March 17, 1920 to the late Rufus and Betty Stimpson Smitherman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John (JW) Choplin, a son Jerry Choplin, and a sister Lucy Workman.
Those left to cherish her memory are a son Johnny (Gay Nell) Choplin of East Bend, a daughter Carolyn (Bill) Smitherman of East Bend, three grandchildren: Paul (Paula) Choplin, Jenny Choplin, and Nick (Kayla) Smitherman; and six great-grandchildren: Paige Keaton, Faith Keaton, Garrett Choplin, Sydnee Choplin, Cierra Smitherman and Abby Smitherman.
Funeral services for Mrs. Choplin will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at East Bend Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Boggs and Rev. Bobby Choplin officiating. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 7 to 9 pm at Huff Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to East Bend Baptist Church. The family would like to say a special thanks to the 6th floor cardiac nursing staff at Forsyth Medical Center and hospice nurse Becky Trivette.
