ENOREE - Mirk D. Smitherman Jr.,
70, of 14921 Spartanburg Highway, died Dec. 3, 1992, in B.J. Workman
Memorial Hospital, Woodruff.
A native of Randolph, Ala., he was the husband of Margaret Montjoy Owings Smitherman and son of the late Mirk D. Sr. and Ollie Smitherman. He was a Baptist and was a security guard for Clinton Mills, Lydia Plant. He was a World War II Army veteran.
Also surviving are two sons, James "Buck" Smitherman and Larry Smitherman of Foutain Inn; four daughters, Barbara S. Dunaway and Jodie S. Abercrombie of Laurens, Glenda S. Sparkman of Joanna and Paula Dunaway of Whitmire; two stepsons, John William Morgan of Spartanburg and Buddy Lee Morgan of Laurens; two stepdaughters, Diane Cogsdill of Laurens and Lisa Lida of Enoree; two brothers, Rex Smitherman of Oklahoma and Ray Smitherman of Atlanta; a sister, Daisy Cothran of Clinton; two half sisters, Vera Harris of Atlanta and Inez Burkett of Birmingham, Ala.; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
After 11 a.m. today, the body will be at the home, 14921 Spartanburg Highway, 221 North, Enoree.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kennedy Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton.
