Nell Hurley Efird, age 90, of 1764 Bellamy Rd., Florahome, Fla. passed away
Sunday, October 12, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Efird was born August 21, 1918 at her home on N. Main Street in Troy, NC, the daughter of the late James Carson, Sr. and the late Carrie Maude (Smitherman) Hurley. She was of the Methodist faith and a homemaker.
Nell loved to play bridge, golf and travel the world. She spent the past 25 years in Florida with her family where she loved the beach and was up at dawn looking for the best sea shells and sharks teeth. She spent her evenings on the lanai of her home enjoying the fragrance of her night blooming jasmines. She was a former member of the Montgomery Country Club.
She is survived by one son: Henry Brown Efird and wife, Hilda of Naples, FL; two daughters: Nell H. Efird, Jr. of Florahome, FL, Carolyn Efird Gibson and husband Neil of Naples, FL; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Friday from 6:00-7:30PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. A graveside service was held Saturday at 11:00 am at Southside Cemetery, S. Main St., Troy with Rev. Bobby Tyson, Jr. officiating.
Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell Street, Troy, NC 27371.
