Rebecca Dean Chandler Waddell, 35, and her beautiful infant son, Jaxon Rhett Waddell, both passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. Rebecca was born in Forsyth County on March 15, 1972, to the Rev. Harold Dean and Judy Smitherman Chandler. Jaxon was a long awaited completion to their family. Rebecca is now in Heaven with Jaxon looking after her little baby. She gave her life for the life of her child; Jaxon completed her life. Rebecca attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Tobaccoville. She was her husband David' s best friend and first and only love and was married for 15 years. She was very caring, thoughtful and was very devoted to David and all of her family. When she came into this world, she was the greatest blessing the Lord could have given to her mother and family and was the best sister Judena could ever have and was a second mom to Judena. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Joseph Smitherman; her paternal grandparents, Gurney and Esther Chandler; and a sister-in-law, Teresa "Terri" Spicer. Surviving are her husband and Jaxon' s father, David Waddell of the home; her parents, the Rev. Harold Dean and Judy Smitherman Chander of East Bend; a sister, Judena Chandler (Steven) Hutchens of East Bend; her grandmother, Stacy Hobson Smitherman of East Bend; a nephew, Joseph Ethan Hutchens of East Bend; her father and mother-in-law, the Rev. Ray and Shirley Waddell of Jonesville; sisters-in-law Sheila and Eddie Settle of Elkin and the Rev. Sandra and the Rev. Chuck Ireson of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Shelly Spicer of Elkin; several nieces and nephews; and numerous special friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, at Huff Funeral Home Chapel in East Bend, with the Rev. Bob Whitaker officiating. Rebecca and Jaxon will be in the funeral home from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 19, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend.
