(WOODLAND) Funeral services for Robert Wilburn Smitherman, 73, of Woodland, were Friday, June 11, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Mitchell officiating. Burial followed at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smitherman died Tuesday, June 8, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Smitherman is survived by two daughters, Syble Rogers of Woodland and Betty Pool of Wedowee; four grandchildren; a sister-in-law; one brother, Harold Smitherman of Miami; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smitherman was born Feb. 16, 1931, in Bessemer, son of Wilburn Smitherman and Mae Ellen Tolbert. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a cook in the U.S. Army. Mr. Smitherman was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Smitherman.
