Ronald
Edward Smitherman, of Montevallo, passed away at the age of 75 on June
8th, surrounded by his wife of 55 years and loving family. Ronald
graduated from Montevallo High School in 1959 and graduated with his
Business Degree from University of Montevallo. He married his junior
high sweetheart, Brenda Bean, in 1960, going on to have 3 daughters
Rhonda Diane Brown (Bobby), Vicki Graeser (David), Kathy Miller
(Woody), a granddaughter Elizabeth Rivera (Frank), and twin great
grandsons, Ronald Edward and Robert Oscar. He was predeceased by his
father, J.D. (Fireball) Smitherman, brother Douglas Smitherman, and
mother, Zelda Rowe. Ronald, an avid and accomplished athlete in his
youth, followed sports regularly, especially his beloved Alabama
Crimson Tide. After football season he enjoyed baseball games and golf
tournaments, but honestly any sport would do! His life was dedicated to
the betterment of his family and his selflessness, support and love
will be deeply missed but will be carried in the hearts of all that
knew and loved him. Services will be held at Rockco Funeral Home in
Montevallo on Saturday, June 11, 2016, visitation from 10 to 11,
funeral service at 11am, burial to follow at Montevallo City Cemetery.
