Mr. Roy L. Choate, age 81, of
Baptist Home Road, North Wilkesboro, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at
Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Choate was born March 30, 1923, in Alleghany County to Greely S. and Florence McBride Choate. He was a member of Cross Roads Primitive Baptist Church, a member of the Mulberry Fairplains Ruritan Club, a member of the Mulberry Fairplains Water Department Board, and a volunteer with the Mulberry Fairplains Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife, June Handy Choate of the home; two sons, Bill Choate of Sterling, Va., Bob Choate of Sparta; two daughters, Esther Kenney of Advance, Betty Jo Smitherman of Pfafftown; two step-daughters, Ann Parsons, Gayle Brown, both of North Wilkesboro; eight grandchildren; one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Elder Larry Blevins and Elder Sam Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Services from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
