SMITHERMAN
EAST BEND - Mr. Roy Lee Smitherman, 83, of East Bend passed away
Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in
Forsyth County on July 14, 1924, to Gorrell and Fannie Hennings
Smitherman. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where he
served as a deacon. Mr. Smitherman was owner of Smitherman' s Nursery
for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two
brothers, Bryce Smitherman and Ed Smitherman. Surviving are his wife of
61 years, Ann M. Smitherman of the home; four children, Stephanie
(Mickey) Clodfelter, Debbie Hutchens, Sharon (Jerry) Adams and Tony
Smitherman, all of East Bend; a sister, Edith Johnson; two
sisters-in-law, Mollie Smitherman and Annie Smitherman, both of East
Bend; six grandchildren, Jason (Carmen) Hutchens, Shannon Smitherman,
Wendy Smitherman, Heath Adams, Andrea Clodfelter, Kara Adams and Amy
Clodfelter; four great-grandchildren, Trent and Tyler Hutchens and
Kailey and Chase Smitherman; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Friendship
Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Byrne and the Rev. Ray Davis
officiating. The body will be in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will
follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6
to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 20, at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend. Memorials
