THURMOND -
Mr. Russell Spencer Allred, 84, of Oscar Callaway Road,
Thurmond, passed away, Sunday, June 17, 2007, at his residence. Mr.
Allred was
born March 30, 1923, in Forsyth County to John Ralph and Lillian Lolene
Smitherman
Allred. Mr. Allred was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church,
American
Legion, NALC and NARFE. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving
during World
War II, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. In addition to his
parents,
he was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman Allred; and a sister,
Edith Cyr.
Survivors include his wife, Louella Futreal Allred of the home; a
daughter,
Tammy Allred Schuyler, and husband Lowell of Thurmond; two
grandchildren, Amber
Schuyler and Brittany Schuyler; a great-grandchild, Connor Schuyler;
and
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2
p.m.
Wednesday, June 20, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev.
John
Attaway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with
military
rites provided by Yadkin County VFW. Mr. Allred will be in the church
30
minutes before the service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9
this
evening, June 19, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The family will
accept
flowers, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and
Palliative
Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030. Online
