Mrs. Sallie Elizabeth
Smitherman, 53, 815 North McKinney street, a widow, died at the Wright
Apartments, where she lived with her son, Tom Smitherman, following an
illness with the flu. Heart disease was given as the immediate
cause of her death. Death was at 2:30 o'clock Sunday morning.
Mrs. Smitherman was born in this state May 27, 1875 and had lived in Texas virtually all her life. She had lived with her son for some time.
She is survived by the son at whose home she died, another son, Robert Smitherman, of Dallas, Dewey Smitherman, of three miles west of Mexia, and three daughters, Mrs. G.D. Messimer, McCamey, Texas, Mrs. O. C. Zoller, Corsicana and Miss Virginia Smitherman who lives at the Wright Apartments with the Smithermans.
Funeral services were held late this afternoon at Rosebud, Texas. Burial was also there. A short service here, at the Corley Undertaking chapel at 11 o'clock this morning. The body was taken to Rosebud on the noon train.
Mrs. Smitherman was a member of the Christian church.
