He was born on Friday, May 16, 1924 in Chilton County, Alabama, Son of the late Claude Smitherman and the late Renie Jones Smitherman.
He was a retired welder from Birmingham Water Works and a World War II Veteran.
Surviving are his Wife of 63 years, Mrs. Nell Smitherman of Clanton, AL; Daughter, Connie (Johnny) Aaron of Pelham, AL; Grandson, John (Christy) Aaron of Clanton, AL; Granddaughter, Kim (Kevin) Lloyd of Alabaster, AL; 3 Great-Grandsons, Casey Aaron of Clanton, AL, David Aaron of Clanton, AL, Ryan Lloyd of Alabaster, AL; Brother, John Smitherman of Clanton, AL.
Friends will be received from 5-8, Friday, March 21, 2008 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 1:00 PM. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Clyde Jones and Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating.
Interment will follow in Chilton Memorial Gardens,
