Mrs Sarah Smitherman passed away early Monday morning  at her home just north of town at a ripe age, after illness of several weeks duration.

Mrs Smitherman was well known in this community and was respected and loved by all who knew her. Her husband died several years ago.  She leaves a number of children, all grown to mourn the loss of a good mother.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Friends Church, conducted by Rev John Reagan of Westfield, a former pastor in this town assisted by Rev Gertrude Reiner.
A duet was sang "The Vacant Chair" by Mrs Rubin Rudley and daughter, a solo "That Wonderful Mother of Mine" sang by Mrs Rudley, also a selection by the choir.

The pall bearers were Howard Johnson, Walter Edwards, Rolla Ward, Will Koleman, Frank Rudley and C A Vestal.

The flower girls were Myrtle Keller, Esther ?, Dorothy Sellars, and Mary Kelser.

Burial was made in the Mooresville Cemetery by the side of her husband.
