Shelby Holcombe Padgett, 75, of Athens passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at home.

Mrs. Padgett was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Randolph to Glen Holcombe and Jewel Smitherman Holcombe. She was a member at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church. She retired from Limestone County Schools were she taught sixth grade at Reid School.

The funeral for Mrs. Padgett is at 4 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Dusty McLemore officiating.

Visitation is from 2-3:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her sons, Patrick Padgett and wife Valerie, Chris Padgett and wife Trish, and Shawn Padgett and wife Kandi; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, J.W. Holcombe, and Billy Glen Holcombe and wife Jennie; sisters, Selvis Wallace, and Betty Veazey and husband Larry; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Padgett; and parents, Glen and Jewel Holcombe.

Pallbearers are Greg Wallace, Tim Wallace, Whit Johnson, Matthew Veazey, Heath Veazey, Steve Blackburn, Dave Garrett and Brett Powers.
