stacy max harmon

Stacy Max Harmon, age 79, of Peoria Road, Sugar Grove, died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his home. Born December 5, 1931 in Watauga County, he was a son of Graydon and Mary Pearl Smitherman Harmon. Stacy was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter.

Mr. Harmon is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Small of Mountain City, Tenn. and Anita Luttrell of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandsons and one granddaughter; and four sisters, Mary Johnson and Glenda Trivette and husband, William, all of Sugar Grove, Ruby Harmon of Kannapolis, and Wilma Harmon of Boone. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Graydon and Mary Pearl Smitherman Harmon, brother, Carroll Harmon, sister, Elizabeth Gala Harmon, granddaughter, Shasta Small, nephew, James D. Johnson and brother-in-law, Herbert Johnson.

Funeral services for Stacy Max Harmon will be conducted Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2011 at 1 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 12 until 1 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Military graveside rites will follow at the Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Sugar Grove.
