Weldon Clarkson Johnson, 81, of 745 E. View Drive, Asheboro, died Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Marion Smith officiating.

He was a native of Star, a member of First E&R United Church of Christ, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Acme-McCrary Hosiery Corp. where he played for the McCrary Eagle Baseball Team.

Surviving are wife, Edith Johnson of Asheboro; sons, Ronnie Johnson of Winston-Salem, Sparky Johnson and Mike Johnson, both of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Mike Johnson, 316 Walnut Drive, Asheboro, on Wednesday evening and 2-3 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro.
