Wednesday, July 5, 2006, in Blum Cemetery. The Rev. Sam Houston
officiated.
Billy Smitherman passed away Monday, July 3, 2006, in Blum. He was born April 22, 1929, in Evant, Texas, to William J. and Annie Sims Smitherman. He married Troy Ritter on Dec. 29, 1956, in Arlington, Texas.
Mr. Smitherman retired from production control with LTV after 35 years of service and was a member of U.A.W.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1951 and was owner/operator of Chapparal Country Club in Covington. He was of the Baptist faith.
Billy Smitherman is survived by his wife, Troy of Covington; four sons, Jerry Smitherman, Joe Smitherman and wife, Larissa, Jimmy Smitherman and Jason Smitherman and wife, Casey, all of Covington; daughter, Jennifer Tinsley and husband, Chad; eight grandchildren, Lynnsey, Justin, Dillion, Austin, Sierra, Jake, Destynee and Marshall.
