W.B. Smitherman, Well Known Paint Contractor, Dies

Winslow B Smitherman, 56, husband of Mrs. Mildred E. Smitherman, R. 3 New Castle, died today in the Henry County Hospital.  He had been in ill health for several months.

Surviving besides his wife, are his mother, Mrs. Tennie Smitherman of Eaast Bend, N.C., three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Sumers, of North Highland, Cal., Mrs. Janet Knotts of New Castle, and Mrs. Joan Wright of Piggott, Ark., and four sons, Donald, Ernest, and Marvin, all of Anderson and Tony of the Air Force, stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala.

Other survivors include six sisters and three brothers in North Carolina and 16 grandchildren.
Mr. Smitherman was a well-known paint contractor in New Castle and Henry County for the last 27 years.

Friends may call at the Macer Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Friday.  Funeral Services will be in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. David B Tallman officiating.  Burial will be in the South Mound Cemetery.
