Yonnie Lou Tallant Smitherman, 87, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville. She was born November 26, 1920 in Sipsey, AL, the daughter of Pheolin Drummond and Nancy Savannah Parker Drummond. Mrs. Smitherman retired in 1983 from Union Carbide Corp. where she was a Science Technologist at K-25. She was a long-time member of Royce Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and sewing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters and husbands, Robert Tallant in 1963 and O. C. Smitherman in 2007. She is survived by: Son, Larry Michael Tallant of Powell; Daughters, Carole Daniels and husband Doyd of Knoxville and Robin Depew and husband Jerry of Oak Ridge; Step-daughter, Ea Jo Smitherman of Oak Ridge; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mrs. Smitherman will be taken to Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper, AL where the family will receive friends Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 6 – 8pm. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at 2pm at Pisgah Cemetery in Sipsey, AL with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating.
