annie elizabeth (hardy) flynn

Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Hardy Flynn, 75, passed away July 13, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Surry County to the late James Fletcher and Nellie Jane Hutchens Hardy. Mrs. Flynn was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a volunteer for CONTACT helpline & hopeline for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Walter Foy Flynn. She is survived by three children, Brenda Walburn and husband Richard of Lexington, Wanda Smitherman and husband Alan of Clemmons, and Darrell Flynn of Germanton; six grandchildren, Lincoln Walburn and Chris Walburn both of Lexington, Shannon Councilman and husband Jason of Walkertown, Shaun Smitherman of Clemmons, Abigail Nelson and husband Lee of Walkertown, and Leslie Flynn of Greensboro; and a much anticipated great-grandchild due in Oct.; three sisters, Mae Adams and husband Lawrence of Boonville, Katie Smith and husband Joe of East Bend, Mary Collins and husband Jack of Supply; and three extended family members, Joyce Byerly, Chris Winterfelt, and Nishelle Caudill. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Collins and Rev. Jim Allred officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 16, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
