Bob Smitherman, 89, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at his home in Springdale, Arkansas.
He was born September 25, 1921 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Harold and Dola Dyes Smitherman.

Mr. Smitherman served in the United States Army for 21 years, retiring with the rank of Major in 1961. His career included WWII, and the Korean War. He served with General Patton's Third Army in the European theater. In addition to his campaign ribbons, with four battle stars, he was entitled to wear the Bronze Star and Presidential Citation.

Along with his beloved wife Eleanor, he enjoyed life to the fullest. Their trips around the country, and cruises where they could always find a dance floor accented recent years. He most enjoyed social events visiting with friends and family telling stories and being the life of the party.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor Smitherman of the home, and daughter Carolyn Creamer of Weatherford, Texas; Nephews, Greg Mohney, and wife Jeana ; Mike Mohney, and wife Jacki of Springdale, Arkansas; Jack Smitherman of San Marcos, Texas ; Nieces, Debbie Mallard, and husband Jimmy of Lincoln, Arkansas; Dyan Brannon of Fayetteville; Sister -in -Law, Ann Smitherman of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Step Son, Brad Holt of Tempe, Arizona; Step Daughters, Jennifer Holt of California and Cheri Holt of Minnesota; two Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren.


Memorial graveside services were Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.
