Conrad C. Hobson, 97, of East Bend, passed away Saturday, Dec.
27, 2003, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Hobson was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Peggy Gray Hobson; a special son-in-law, Grady Mitchell; five sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 74 years of marriage, Vera W. Hobson of the home; a son, Cole M. (Pernell) Hobson of Boonville; two daughters,
Carolyn (Guy Vernon) Smitherman of East Bend and Bobbie (Claude) Floyd of Penhook, Va.; a sister, Allene Moxley of Yadkinville; his seven grandchildren, Mark (Kaye) Hobson of Clemmons, Melissa (Billy) Smith of Greensboro, Mechelle (Joey) Crissman of Boonville, Chris (Midori) Smitherman of East Bend, Cheryl Smitherman of Lake Norman, Chad (Stacy) Mitchell and Derek (Alana) Mitchell of Danville, Va.,; a stepgrandson, Chip (Angie) Floyd of Chesapeake, Va.; seven great-grandchildren, Sarah (Keith) Vestal, Leslie (Brian) Dudas, Tyler Smitherman, Drew Smitherman, Joseph and Roseanna Crissman and Will Mitchell; a stepgreat-grandson, Christopher Carillo; and a great-great-granddaughter, Bailey Vestal. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening, Dec. 29,
