Funeral 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell St., Troy , conducted by Rev. Mike Elliott. Burial, Southside Cemetery, Troy . Mrs. Smitherman was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was a Wake County native. Survivors: husband, Jim Smitherman of Asheboro; son, Jimmy "Smut" Smitherman of Boone; daughter, Susan S. Snuggs of Concord; six grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren.
