JONESVILLE - Mrs. Gypsy Smitherman Mickey Holcomb, 89, of Williams Street passed away Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Elkin Healthcare. She was born April 30, 1915, in Yadkin County to Wade and Vera Hutchens Smitherman.

Mrs. Holcomb was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Co. with more than 45 years of service. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesville, a faithful member of the Lucy Hanes Club and played basketball for the Chatham Team.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, J.O. Mickey Sr.; her second husband, Odell Holcomb; a sister, Salley Taylor; and two half brothers, Alton Smitherman and J.R. Smitherman.

Surviving are her son, James (Betty) Mickey of Jonesville; two grandchildren, Greg (Beth) Mickey and Melinda (Jeff) Haynes; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alta (Lewis) Reece of Asheville and Evon Vestal of Pfafftown; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, July 3, at the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Bill Byrd. Burial will follow in the Baltimore United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today before the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville
