SUN CITY CENTER -- Mrs. Jewel S.
Gillespie of Sun City Center died of heart failure Monday (Nov. 24,
2003) at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center. She was 79.
Born Aug. 14, 1924, in Wetumpka, Ala., she was a resident of Bartow before moving to Sun City Center three years ago. She was a homemaker. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her husband, John P. Gillespie; daughter, Judy Poppovitch, Ruskin; brother, Thomas E. Smitherman, Ft. Walton Beach, Willie Clyde Smitherman, Houston, Texas; sister, Bobbie Jean Shaw, Montgomery, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 7, 2003) at Sun City Christian Center, Sun City Center.
