EAST BEND -
Mrs. Zena Mae Smitherman Wall, 73, of 437 Flinthill Road died
Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in
Winston-Salem.
She was born in Yadkin County on Jan. 17, 1928, to Tommie Daughton and
Emma Mae
Beane Smitherman. She was a member of East Bend United Methodist
Church, where
she served as church organist for many years. She worked for World Book
Encyclopedia for many years and was involved in various community
activities.
Mrs. Wall was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth (Josh) Hupp.
Surviving are
her husband, Clyde Wall of East Bend; two sons, Jerry L. Wall of
Mooresville
and Randy (Tracy) Wall of Ronda; three sisters, Vera S. (Howard)
Poindexter of
Yadkinville, Pauline (Paul) Oldham and Jamie S. (T.W.) Perkins, all of
East
Bend; and two granddaughters, Jennifer (Phillip) Beane of Greensboro
and
Jeannie L. Wall of Asheboro. Funeral services will be conducted at 2
p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the East Bend United Methodist Church by
the Rev.
Janet Anderson and the Rev. Rennie Adcock. The body will be placed in
the
church at 1:30 to lie in state. Burial will follow in the East Bend
Friends
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening
at Huff
Funeral Home in East Bend.
